8mm (or Digital8) is the original format in the 8mm video family. But not all 8mm tapes are Digital8, they could also be Video8 or Hi8, which we can also transfer.

Digital8 are very common and are labelled as such, however you can Google Digital8 tapes and compare pictures to your tapes to confirm.

Any types of Digital8 camcorder cassette tapes can be converted to USB. Training videos, wedding videos, christening videos, sports videos, documentary videos, family videos - any type. GF Video Transfers can also transfer other tapes in the 8mm family - Video8 and Hi8.

Digital8 camcorder tapes are an old format, the quality of Digital8 is not as high quality as modern DVD, Blu-Ray or 4K formats. VHS resolution is around 288 pixels, whereas DVD is 576, Blu-Ray is 1080 and 4K is 2160 pixels.

Therefore, the analogue Digital8 quality is far below todays available digital resolutions and colours are not as rich. GF Video Transfers Digital8 to USB service will get as much quality from the Digital8 as possible.

Obviously you can check if a Digital8 camcorder tape still works by playing it in your camcorder, but most people have gotten rid of their old cameras.

Digital8 camcorder tapes are known to be quite durable and long lasting and you may be surprised how long your old tapes have lasted.
